Chinese vice president meets UNGA president

Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan on Monday met with President of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly Miroslav Lajcak, pledging to support the core role of the United Nations.

Wang said global peace, stability and common development is an essential environment for the Chinese people to live a better life and for the Chinese nation to achieve modernization.

He said China stands ready to achieve common development with other countries under the Belt and Road Initiative, and will continue to firmly support multilateralism and the core role of the United Nations, and contribute Chinese wisdom to building a fair and just global governance system.

For his part, Lajcak said China is a strong supporter of multilateralism and an indispensable force that promotes world peace and development, noting that the United Nations stands ready to deepen all-round cooperation with China.
