Chinese Vice President Han Zheng on Wednesday urged closer China-ASEAN cooperation as he addressed the Opening Ceremony of the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit in Nanning, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
During his speech, he underlined the long-standing friendship between China and ASEAN countries and proposed four points to help build a China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
Han suggested strengthening development strategy alignment, including advancing the Belt and Road Initiative and jointly implementing China's four global initiatives. He also urged accelerating regional openness through the upgrade of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and the high-quality implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership.
Han further emphasized the need to boost industrial and supply chain cooperation by expanding collaboration in emerging sectors and safeguarding global stability. In addition, he called for deeper cultural exchanges, greater travel facilitation and more projects that deliver tangible benefits to local communities.
He also noted that China will continue to pursue high-level opening up and share growth opportunities with ASEAN, stressing the expo's role as a key platform for regional cooperation.
