Restricting Huawei from doing business in the U.S. will not make the U.S. more secure or stronger, China's telecommunication giant Huawei said in a statement on Thursday.

Huawei made the remarks after U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order declaring a national emergency and barring U.S. companies from using telecommunications equipment made by firms posing an "unacceptable risk to the national security."

Huawei executives have, on various occasions, refuted such allegations, citing the company's excellent cyber security record and willingness to accept supervision and suggestions of foreign customers and governments. Until now, no evidence has been furnished to support the allegations.

"Huawei is an unparalleled leader in 5G telecom equipment and is ready and willing to engage with the U.S. government and come up with effective measures to ensure product security," the statement read.

Such restrictions will only force the U.S. to use inferior and expensive alternative equipment and ultimately hurt the interests of U.S. consumers, the company said adding that unreasonable restrictions will infringe upon Huawei's rights and raise other serious legal issues.
