Zhuo said KUCI is committed to linking the Chinese and local enterprises in Kenya with the Chinese learners.

Speaking in the same event, Wango urged students to continue with their quest for the acquisition of Chinese language and culture as part of their career development.

"I want to assure you that CIKU will continue aiming at reaching greater heights. Currently we offer beginners class, proficiency, certificate, diploma and soon we will launch bachelor of education and arts in Chinese language and literature," he said.

Wango called upon more students to join the Confucius Institute in order to take advantage of the opportunities presented by China.

"China is an important global power that is worthy associating with and anyone who wants to access their universities and experience the great strides they have achieved, has to learn their language," he said.

Elizabeth Andang'o, a lecturer at KU Department of Music and Dance, thanked the CI leadership for organizing the event, saying it had brought many lessons to the attendants.

"The theme of the event was very interesting. The costumes were wonderful and taught us a lot about the rich Chinese culture," she said.

The Confucius Institute day refers to the festival that was born on September 27, 2014. to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the first CI that was established in South Korea.

On CI day, nearly 1,200 Confucius Institutes and Confucius classrooms in 123 countries and regions around the world hold a total of more than 3,000 Chinese language and cultural experience activities, according to Zhuo.

This is in addition to Chinese language teaching open classes, Chinese textbooks exhibitions, Chinese culture lectures, and Chinese cultural performances.

"With the enormous support of the Chinese government and the local governments, after 14 years of development, CI, which aims at promoting Chinese language and spreading Chinese culture has gained a prosperous momentum," Zhuo said.

To date, China has established 511 Confucius institutes and 1,073 Confucius classrooms across 140 countries and regions. The registered students exceed 2.1 million and the Chinese local teachers are more than 46,000.
