A Chinese-produced opera based on a popular Soviet novel will begin a tour of Russia next week.
The NCPA-commissioned "The Dawns Here Are Quiet" will make its debut at Mariinsky Theatre in St.
Petersburg on Sept. 11. After two days of performances, it will move to the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army in Moscow on Sept. 14-15.
The opera was commissioned in 2015 to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. Its Russian tour this year is part of the Chinese Culture Festival in Russia.
