China's internet users reach 1.12 billion, with penetration rate at 79.7%

(ECNS) -- China now has 1.12 billion internet users, with an internet penetration rate of 79.7 percent, according to the 56th Statistical Report on Internet Development in China released by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) on Monday.

The report highlights major progress in digital infrastructure during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Accelerated deployment of new-generation networks and expanding internet resources have supported rapid digital growth and wider access.

Emerging tech sectors, especially artificial intelligence, are growing fast, further boosting China's global digital influence and driving high-quality economic and social advancement, according to the report.
