(ECNS) -- China's Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Emergency Management on Monday allocated 140 million yuan ($19.5 million) in emergency relief funds for flood-stricken Guizhou and Hunan provinces.

The Ministry of Emergency Management said the latest funding follows a 160 million yuan allocation on June 23.

Since mid-June, both provinces have suffered heavy rainfall, triggering severe flooding in Guizhou's Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture. Areas affected include Rongjiang and Congjiang where large numbers of residents have been evacuated, and significant damage recorded.

These funds will primarily support search and rescue operations, relocation, temporary housing, and home reconstruction, aiming to restore basic living conditions and economic activity across affected areas.
