(ECNS) -- Following the implementation of mutual visa exemptions between China and the South Caucasus region in April, China Southern Airlines plans to increase flight frequency to the three nations, strengthening travel links under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Including Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, the region serves as a historic hub along the ancient Silk Road and remains a pivotal partner of the BRI.

Starting June 1, daily round-trip flights from Urumqi to Tbilisi will replace the current four weekly services (Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays).

Flights from Urumqi to Baku will increase from three (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays) to five (Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays) weekly from June 10.

Flights from Urumqi to Yerevan will expand from two (Mondays, Fridays) to three (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays) weekly beginning June 11.

With these adjustments, China Southern Airlines will operate 15 weekly round-trip flights to the South Caucasus region, up from the previous nine.

The increased frequency addresses rising demand for tourism and business travel, offering travelers more flexible scheduling.
