Guangdong Governor Wang Weizhong was impressed by a humanoid robot during a recent tour of high-tech enterprises in Guangzhou city.
The encounter in Guangzhou Li Gong Industry Co., Ltd. marked a kye moment in his visit, which highlighted efforts to advance the region's modern industrial system and drive innovation in AI and robotics.
The governor visited the enterprises from Monday to Tuesday, exploring the leading-edge technology firms and new R&D institutions across Guangzhou’s Haizhu, Huangpu, Panyu, and Nansha districts.
After shaking hands with the robot, the governor received a “Guangdong Dian” display board. Wang also toured the company’s embodied intelligence product workshop, offering encouragement to focus on frontier technologies, enhance industrial design, and accelerate the commercialization of products.
Notably, in a related development on Feb。 10-11, Governor Wang conducted a similar inspection in Shenzhen, where he visited major innovation platforms and tech companies.
There, he also interacted with robots, including during a visit to Tencent’s Robotics X Lab. Wang’s inspection extended to other robotics firms including Leju Robotics, Limx Dynamics, Paxini Tech and EngineAI Robotics, where he learned about the latest advancements in humanoid robotics.
Governor Wang stressed the importance of overcoming key technological barriers in robotics, including machine brains, limbs, bodies, and core components, while also promoting innovations in sectors like elderly care, rehabilitation, and public services.
“Shenzhen must position itself as a leader in fields like robotics, AI, autonomous driving, and quantum technology,” Wang concluded. “By seizing opportunities in these emerging industries, Shenzhen can contribute even more to the national and provincial development agenda.”
