Sichuan sets southward opening up a priority

(ECNS) - Sichuan Province has pledged to build the ASEAN Industrial Park and give priority to southerly opening up, according to the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, held in Chengdu City.

Liu Xin, director of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce, said Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will provide huge opportunities for Sichuan as it will converge production factors with the strongest innovation ability in the world.

Sichuan will make southerly efforts to further open up, actively explore emerging markets, and deepen connections with the Greater Bay Area, South Asia and Southeast Asia, said Liu.

In addition to the building of Sino-Germany, Sino-South Korea and Singapore-Sichuan industry parks, the province will also plan an ASEAN industrial park, it was added.

Sichuan will support the establishment of special customs supervision areas in certain cities and prefectures and launch a number of pilot zones for coordinated reform.

Liu said Sichuan will also promote the opening up of the service industry and manufacturing and strive to exceed 1 trillion yuan in total foreign trade by 2022.
