(ECNS) - Beijing is to make every effort to attract international talent as it prepares to host the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, according to the organizing committee.

An official action plan that includes a global recruitment mechanism was announced on Tuesday.

It includes seven specific projects to woo talent in several fields including sports management, technicians and volunteer services.

Yan Cheng, director of the committee‘s human resources department, said China’s winter sports are relatively underdeveloped and the country is in need of leading talent to help the organization.

Yan also said the organizing committee will strengthen contact and cooperation with international counterparts. A total of 14 foreign experts have to date helped address some critical technical issues in venue planning, race track design, overall organization and logistics.

The committee will attract talent from across the world, train local talent and build an international, professional team for the success of the Winter Games, it was said.

The committee held its first global recruitment last year, selecting 31 out of 3,894 applicants from 20 countries and regions.

Beijing will also invite seven professionals who worked for the Pyeongchang Olympic Winter Games to help at the 2022 Games. Beijing sent 254 people for training at the Pyeongchang Games.
