U.S. automaker Ford on Wednesday issued two safety recalls over potential roll-away risk, with one involving some 270,000 Fusion sedans in North America.

The first recall is for 2013-16 Fusion cars with 2.5-liter engines. On affected vehicles, the bushing that attaches the shifter cable may degrade and detach from the transmission, which could allow the driver to move the shift lever to park and remove the ignition key while the transmission may not be in park, with no warning message or audible chime.

The problem can result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of injury or crash, said Ford.

The automaker has received three reports about property damage and one report alleging an injury potentially related to this condition.

This action affects up to 259,182 vehicles in the United States and federalized territories, 10,282 in Canada and 3,765 in Mexico.

The second recall is for 2019 Ranger midsize pickups, involving about 2,500 vehicles in the United States and federalized territories and some 260 in Canada.

On some affected vehicles, faulty transmission shift cable bracket fasteners could also lead to unintended roll-aways, said Ford.
