A group of both domestic and foreign conscription posters had drawn hot discussion online on August 1, 2014, the day marking the 87th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, Beijing Youth Daily reports.

Compared with foreign posters, many netizens said the traditional Chinese conscription posters were not attractive for its unchanged slogans like "It's an honor for the whole family when one of its members joins the army" and "It's every citizen's responsibility to serve in the army".

In fact, the style of domestic conscription posters had been changed. Comic conscription posters were published for the first time in Beijing and southwest China's Yunnan Province recently, which featured adorable comic figures favored by many netizens.

And 9 conscription posters featuring heroic firefighters in Xinjiang's Karamay city had won great attention and many compliments from netizens because they look like blockbuster posters.

Shi Haifeng, official from the Beijing Municipal Conscription Office, introduced that the posters were specially designed by using comic soldier characters to attract more university students.

Shi added that more university students and parents had consulted about joining the army after the release of the posters. Many young people also said these amiable and eye-catching comic posters could convey information more effectively.
