Shanghai Party Secretary Han Zheng met Hamburg First Mayor Olaf Scholz, also Vice Chairman of Social Democratic Party of Germany, and his delegation on Friday.

Han said that he is glad to see Scholz for the second time this year. Han visited Hamburg this July and conducted extensive and deep exchanges with German officials. He said he felt the strong will of both cities to enhance cooperation.

Han noted that Shanghai has been a sister city of Hamburg for 29 years and has close ties with Hamburg in fields such as economy, trade, science and technology, ports, culture and education.

The mayor hoped Shanghai and Hamburg will cooperate closely to contribute more to a healthy, stable and sustainable China-Germany relationship under the current international economic situation in which China and Germany's growth will affect the trend of world economy.

Scholz said that Hamburg and Shanghai's top officials have visited each other frequently since they became sister cities in 1986.

He added that the two cities have conducted fruitful cooperation and exchanges in many fields and this visit also unveiled the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of sister cities next year.

He hoped that the two sides can look into future development, expand cooperation fields and further extend friendly ties.
