The Kubrick and Lounge.

(Ecns.cn)-Browsing your favorite bookstore is a pleasure beyond description, but after a few hours, mere mortals still have to eat for the strength to keep exploring the shelves. The book lover is without a doubt reluctant to go off in search of a restaurant.

The good news is there are now book stores in Beijing with delis and coffee shops inside. Here is a list of such stores we are sure you would love to spend a winter afternoon.

P01 Kubrick

This is a name that may require no further introduction since many foreign book and movie fans have already heard of it. It is the right spot for foreigners since a great number of the books are imported from abroad, mostly in the Hong Kong print version. And it's the right spot for movie-lovers too since the owners promote film series in various categories and themes.

Stepping into Kubrick, one may get disoriented and accidentally walk into a private working studio; well, that's exactly the intension of the design. The green walls and the furniture create an atmosphere of respect for the natural environment.

Here you can troll the stands for Chinese or English reading material; here you can drink tea or coffee; eat sandwiches or cakes; relax with a book or a movie, and listen to the best and brightest live and in person. Kubrick in Beijing is now involved with different art organizations and held many exhibitions, lectures and networking sessions.

Address: Grand Moma, Tower 2, No.1 Xiongheyuan Road, Dongcheng District.

P02 Lounge

Better to call it a book salon where you cpay to read, watch a fashion show or enjoy a memorable meal, since it's just too fashionable for the plain name of "book store."

Everything, including the ceiling-high bookshelves, is stark white, making the interior particularly bright and elegant. And the books, while they vary in language, don't vary in taste. Basically, Lounge is targeting the cultural elites who like to hold exhibitions, talks and networking sessions in their upscale space.

Like the books, the food is classy, and the chief is pretty fussy about his menu - a match for the atmosphere, in other words. Sometimes it's the dining, rather than the reading that attracts its loyal customers.

Address: Room L214, Fashion Plaza, No.9 Guanghua Road, Changyang District.
