Nearly half of the Chinese millionaires are considering leaving the country.

A restriction or not

Faced with this crazy emigration trend, only a small group of online users support the action of these millionaires, while most people think that the country needs to lay down some barriers to limit people's actions. "It is this country that made them rich. What they are thinking shows that they are trying to escape their social responsibilities," said an online user on his Weibo.com.

"The opening-up policy helped many people collect wealth which lead them to what they have today. Although the policy is being mentioned less than before, it does not mean that these people can wrap up their wealth and escape their responsibility," followed another Weibo user.

"Though problems like exam-oriented education, high living costs, and food security do exist, this cannot be a reason for people leave the country and escape their responsibilities," said Xia Xueluan, professor at Peking University.

And if the cash of these millionaires flows out and fails to flow back, there may be some economic repercussions in the Chinese mainland. What's worse, the economy may face a collapse, warned some economists.

"So it is better that the country takes actions to supervise emigration, including for those corrupt governmental officials who hope to escape prison. That way, we can make sure that the emigration will not bring serious problems to the country," said Xia.
