Nevertheless, some see Niu's quit differently, speculating on whether or not he will put all his efforts into charity since he still controls Modern Farming Group, which supplies milk to Mengniu and other companies.
The company profile shows that Modern Farming was set up by the former director and senior managers of Mengniu. "Its establishment, financing, and capital operation also follow the same pattern as Mengniu," said Wang Dingmian, an expert in the dairy industry.
"If Mengniu is Niu's first son, Modern Farming is his second son. The only difference is that the first-born enjoys a high profile while the second son is not widely recognized. So Niu can still pull the strings from behind the scenes," Wang added.
"Though a separate company from Mengniu," further explained Wang, "Modern Farming is controlled by a former Mengniu management team. Niu had his whole team transferred to Modern Farming, his second front, after the resignation."
