Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring" is one of the most influential ballet works in history, and on October 28-29, 180 students from China, Germany and France will perform a special choreography created by Royston Maldoom of the UK.

This community dance project was originated in 2012 by Harmony Shanghai Culture & Art Communication Company, when about 130 students performed Stravinsky's "Firebird."

This year more students joined, and among them 100 are from China who range in age from 6 to 18. For the first time, children of migrant workers are participating.

Maldoom has been a choreographer for more than 40 years and has worked with companies from around the world, among them the Dance Theater of Harlem and Atlanta Contemporary Dance Company in the USA, Ballet Sans Marcos (Peru), and the Scottish Ballet.

He has also been the leader of numerous dance and community projects.

He founded community dance groups for teenagers and adults and began to develop his philosophy of community dance in the 1980s.

The project in Berlin, with 250 children participating, gained international recognition through the movie "Rhythm is It!"

Students performing this year's "Rite of Spring," who had no prior stage or dance experience, practiced for six weeks and over the National Day holiday week.
