Shanghai Poly Grand Theater will host is opening night on September 30.
Designed by renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the theater in Jiading New Town took four years to build.
Its main hall has 1,466 seats and there is also be a multi-function hall accommodating 400 people.
The theater sits adjacent to Yuanxiang Lake, the first in Shanghai to have a waterfront view. It will also have a stage by the water.
The theater will mainly host concerts and operas while working to nurture a local audience base. The average ticket price will be around 260 yuan (US$ 41) although every performance will have tickets priced below 100 yuan.
