Piano recital by Gesa Luecker

Gesa Luecker,described as "a straightforward and sensitive pianist" by The New York Times, will give a recital at Shanghai Oriental Art Centeron May 11. The German artist will play the works by Scarlatti, Schubert, Ravel, Debussy and Liszt.

Lueckergave her first public performance at the age of 9 and her orchestral debut at the age of 12. She studied with Martin Doerrie and MattiRaekallio at Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media and has collaborated with ArieVardi, Fabio Bidini and Jerome Rose.

Luecker has worked with various orchestras, including Stadttheater Hildesheim Orchestra, PhilarmoniaOltenia Craiova Romania, Goettingen Symphony Orchestra, Hannover Youth Orchestra. Recent concerts brought her to Italy, Poland, USA and China.

In October 2010 she became professor of piano at the University for Music and Dance in Cologne. She often serves as a judge at various national and international competitions. From 2011 she regularly teaches at the Mannes College in New York.

Luecker is dedicated to promotingclassical music to a wider audience and is involved in the "Rhapsody in Schools" project initiated by Lars Vogt. She acts as a consultant and musical director for several concert series and music festivals.
