Jiaxiu Tower is the symbol of Guiyang city and has witnessed its history for more than 400 years. It is a three-level pavilion perched on a boulder in Nanming River in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. Back to the history, it was initially constructed from 1598, Ming Dynasty (1573-1620) and built as a causeway to link the site with the southern bank of Nanming River. After several years, a pavilion beside the original site to honor the first scholar at the time was built. The name "Jiaxiu" just means the first scholar literarily. At the time official hopes to courage more local students to get success in the imperil examinations.

Like most of traditional Chinese-style ancient tower, Jiaxiu Tower is covered by green tiles, red pillars, engraved windows and white stone parapets which contribute to its superb and striking appearance. While ascending the tower, visitors could enjoy a nice view of the surrounding scenery. Jiaxiu Tower was highly appreciated for its beautiful night view.
