Concentrated in Wenquan Township of Jimo City near Qingdao are dozens of hot spring "resorts" in a dizzying variety of scale and quality of service. Here we've selected three of the best so all you have to worry about is lying back and enjoying your relaxing hot spring spa experience. If you don't want to make the trip out to Jimo, we've also included one location inside Qingdao for your soaking convenience.

1) Q&X Hot Spring Resort

Q&X Hot Spring Resort in Jimo City boasts both indoor and outdoor hot springs, with espresso, "Matisse", and ginseng-themed hydrotherapy pools. There's a saltwater pool where you can float like you're in the Dead Sea, a pool with fish to nibble away your dead skin cells, medicinal pools, and sauna. If you're done soaking and prefer a drier activity, the upstairs area has an internet café, reading room, gym, and ping-pong tables.

Add: Q&X Hot Spring Resort, 377 Laiqing Lu (Dingge Village), Wenquan Township, Jimo City, Qingdao

地址:青岛即墨温泉镇莱青路377号(丁哥庄), 香根温泉度假酒店

Tel: 532 6802 0333

Spa hours: 9:30-24:00

Price: 168 RMB (Mon-Thu), 188 RMB (Fri-Sun)

Getting there: from Qingdao Bus Station (青岛汽车站), take the Jimo-Qingdao express coach (即青快客) to Jimo Long-Distance Bus Station (即墨长途车站), then change to the Tianhengdao line (田横岛线) and get off at Wenquan (温泉). Or, from Qingdao Bus Station (青岛汽车站), take bus No. 617 to Huanghai Expo Center (巟海博览中心) followed by a taxi to the resort.
