(ECNS) — The first batch of exhibits for the ninth China International Import Expo cleared customs in Shanghai on Monday, marking the start of exhibit arrivals for the expo, which runs Nov. 5-10.
The exhibits came from Austria’s WFL Millturn Technologies, a specialist manufacturer of high-end turn-mill machining centers making its debut at the expo. The featured machine tool will also make its first appearance in Asia.
WFL executive Stefan Hackl said China plays an important role in global manufacturing and that the company views Shanghai as a key hub for expanding its presence in the Asia-Pacific market.
More exhibits, including French tires, Australian coffee and Kazakh ice cream, are expected to arrive in Shanghai in the coming days.
To speed clearance, Shanghai Customs has opened 123 dedicated service windows and channels at 26 subordinate customs offices.
The measures include streamlined procedures, tax incentives and unified guarantees to reduce exhibitors’ costs.
More than 1,200 companies from 99 countries and regions have signed up for this year’s expo.
