(ECNS) – The 20th Meeting of the Chongqing Mayor's International Economic Advisory Council (CMIA) was held in Chongqing from Tuesday to Wednesday.
Representatives from 32 Fortune Global 500 companies and industry-leading enterprises from 11 countries gathered in the mountain city to contribute wisdom around the theme "Pooling Global Innovation Resources and Expanding Scientific and Technological Cooperation."
Zhang Yongwu, director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce and Secretary-General of the CMIA Secretariat, said that advisers put forward a series of forward-looking recommendations, summarized as four "integrations": integrating global innovation resources, integrating technological and industrial elements, integrating international innovative talent, and integrating an open innovation ecosystem.
Jerome Dorlack, president and CEO of ADIENT, said: "I've been coming to China for over 20 years now. And the pace of change has been incredible, faster than any other automotive market in the world. What Adient has done is purposely put a strategy in place in China for the globe."
Dorlack added: "Chongqing has a world-class industrial sphere of partners that we can work with, both from customers to suppliers to leading universities and access to talented individuals. That makes Chongqing really key for us."
Jonathan Jennings, Chief Procurement Officer of HP Inc., said: "We have been working together for over 19 years. We have produced over 450 million PCs out of Chongqing. I cannot say enough how critical Chongqing is to our system."
Jin Kyu Han, executive vice president and president APAC of Vibracoustic SE, said: "The big suggestion we talked about is this global innovation about collaboration. One advantage Chongqing has is it's a big city, and this allows for big industries, different industries. Collaboration is not just from the OEM or customer side, but all the way through the supply chain or the value chain."
Founded in 2006, CMIA brings foreign investment, expertise and technology to Chongqing. Over the past 20 years, advisory companies have invested more than $100 billion in the city.
