(ECNS) -- China will cultivate positive sports fan and event culture and clamp down on toxic fandom behaviors across the sports industry during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), a senior sports official announced on Thursday.
During the period, authorities will step up efforts to enhance civility at sports venues, build wholesome fan culture and event etiquette, and rectify rampant irregularities stemming from disordered sports fandom, in a bid to purify the public opinion environment for sports development, Gao Zhidan, director of China's General Administration of Sport, said at a press conference.
China will also strengthen industry discipline, targeting prevalent malpractice including fraud, match-fixing and on-site violence at sporting events, Gao added.
It will continue its anti-corruption campaign in the sports sector to uphold and foster a clean and upright industrial ecosystem, he concluded.
