Mainland sends birthday wishes to giant panda Yuan Yuan on hr 22nd birthday

(ECNS) -- The State Council Taiwan Affairs Office on Wednesday extended birthday greetings to giant panda Yuan Yuan, who turned 22 at Taipei Zoo.

Spokesperson Zhang Han expressed hope the panda will remain healthy and said the warm bond of affection across the Taiwan Strait will continue.

Yuan Yuan and her mate Tuan Tuan arrived at Taipei Zoo in 2008. The pair later had two cubs, Yuan Zai and Yuan Bao, and have brought joy to visitors in Taiwan for more than a decade.
