(ECNS) -- Three rescue dogs have remained involved in search operations after suffering paw abrasions during their rescue efforts at the site of a mudslide in the Gyirong Port area of Xizang Autonomous Region.
The dogs suffered paw abrasions and wore through their protective boots after days of hard work helping find missing people over rugged terrain, but have remained with rescue teams throughout the search and have received medical treatment to ensure their safety.
The affected area features rugged terrain, thick mud, dense gravel and hard surfaces, compounded by persistent low temperatures, heavy fog and frequent secondary disasters. The harsh conditions have made search and rescue efforts extremely challenging.
Despite their injuries, these trained dogs have continued to navigate steep slopes, rocky ground and thick mud throughout the operation to help in rescue operations.
They have been deployed to search debris layers, mud-covered blind spots and ravines that are difficult for rescue workers to fully inspect, helping improve efficiency and reduce gaps in coverage.
Search and rescue operations in the Gyirong Port area are ongoing, with all rescue personnel and their canine partners remaining on site to carry out thorough, uninterrupted searches.
