(ECNS) -- A mudslide struck near Gyirong Port in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on Wednesday, with people reported missing, local authorities said.

The disaster has cut off roads leading to the port on the Chinese side, as well as communications and power supplies, according to the emergency management bureau of Gyirong County in Xigaze City.

The first batch of 200 technical experts and emergency rescue personnel, specializing in geology, engineering, rescue operations, and other related fields, has been dispatched from Beijing, Lhasa, Chengdu, and Chongqing to the disaster-stricken areas.

Equipped with large-scale engineering rescue equipment, along with multi-functional reconnaissance drones, 3D laser scanners, life detection instruments, and other advanced tools, they will carry out emergency rescue and relief operations.

The second batch of 100 rescue personnel remains on standby.

Gyirong Port is a major land port connecting China and Nepal.
