The United States is marking Independence Day with fireworks—but this year, the dazzling displays may come at a higher price and in shorter supply, thanks to U.S. tariffs, according to National Public Radio (NPR).

More than 90% of American fireworks are imported from China. Now, these sparkling celebrations must not only cross the Pacific but also clear steep tariff hurdles. The added import taxes have driven prices sky-high—while the fireworks light up the skies, their soaring costs are just as dramatic.

Industry experts caution that the full impact of Trump-era tariffs may hit hardest by 2026, just in time for the nation’s 250th birthday.
