(ECNS) -- Siemens announced the launch of its first integrated solar and storage project at a Chinese factory in east China's Nanjing on Monday.

This project by Siemens Numerical Control Ltd., Nanjing (SNC) adopts its comprehensive digital microgrid solution, integrating distributed solar power, industrial-grade lithium battery storage, and an intelligent energy and carbon management system.

Lin Bin, executive vice president of Siemens China, stated that the SNC project is an important element of the company's efforts in digital and low-carbon energy management, which would provide a model for other factories to follow in their energy-saving and emission-reducing efforts.

Notably, the 1860kW/5580kWh high-safety lithium battery storage system helps cut costs by shifting peak loads and could power critical loads for up to three hours during summer electricity restrictions.

It is estimated that the Siemens digital microgrid solution would help SNC save around 250,000 yuan (about $34,282.28) in electricity costs annually.

At the event, Siemens also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai Xinjinqiao Energy Technology Co., Ltd to jointly develop a demonstration project for a"energy microgrid + low-carbon smart park," promoting the digital and low-carbon upgrade of park-level energy management.
