(ECNS) -- Rui'an City in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, plans to establish a helicopter 6S center, according to a work report for 2025 recently released by the local government.
The 6S center is set to be established in Pingyangkeng Town, also the first in southern Zhejiang. The concept of the center, which includes sale, servicing, spare part, a school for pilots, special finance, and supporting operation, is more advanced than the 4S model, said Weng Qingdu, who is overseeing the project.
According to Weng, Pingyangkeng Town boasts an open terrain with an unobstructed airspace, making it ideal for flying. "We have nearly completed the preliminary flight approval process and aim to start construction within the year once the land is secured. The project is expected to be completed in two to three years," he said.
The issue of helicopters being underutilized exists in the aviation industry, Weng noted. “We plan to offer hosting and maintenance services for these idle helicopters in exchange for flight time, ensuring these assets are effectively utilized.”
These helicopters, along with those purchased by the center, will be used to meet diverse public needs, such as sightseeing, tourism, and general aviation, he said.
He also plans to develop a low-altitude economy, integrating cultural tourism, educational activities, sports, and hotel accommodation around the helicopter business. This initiative aims to create a comprehensive service industry chain, boosting rural revitalization through the development of low-altitude economic activities.
