Zhi said China is in close contact with 14 African countries to fight against fake products and safeguard legal interests. In 2016, a joint campaign among ports exposed 204 suspected cases involving fake products and seized 660,000 items.

China is also helping African countries boost quality controls and has trained more than 1,000 inspectors from varies countries, it was added.

Data shows the quality of Chinese exports to Africa has increased steadily, with detected counterfeit or disqualified products dropping from 7.52 percent of shipments in 2014 to 4.6 percent in 2015 and 3.2 percent last year.

Zhi vowed that China would continue to keep a close eye on the quality of exports and encourage African consumers to buy genuine Chinese products.
