(ECNS) – A horse that was said to be worth 180,000 yuan ($29,000) was run down by a construction truck at an intersection in the newer part of Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, on Tuesday afternoon.
A man surnamed Wu was riding the horse to a nearby village. He recalled turning left when the truck sped toward them.
"We were knocked to the ground before I realized it," Wu said.
Wu was taken to the hospital. He later learned the horse died at the scene.
A man surnamed Huang was the owner of the horse. He said he bought the horse from North China two years ago for 180,000 yuan.
"It was a thoroughbred between 6 and 7," Huang said.
On Tuesday, Huang asked his friend Wu to take the horse to Wu's village.
"I didn't expect something like this would happen," Huang said.
The truck fled the scene. Police are looking into the incident.
