Pingdingshan (CNS) – The brothers Shi Junfeng and Shi Jianfeng were convicted of fraud in their retrial in Lushan people's court in Central China's Henan province today.

Shi Juanfeng has been fined 50,000 yuan and put in jail for 7 years; his brother will serve a term of 30 months with a penalty of 10,000 yuan. Their accomplices Shi Liushen and Wang Mingwei were sentenced to one year in prison for perjury but the sentence was repreived.

The brothers drove two trucks with forged military license plates through expressway toll-gates 2,361 times without paying the fee, which saved them over 3.68 million yuan from May 4, 2008 to January 1, 2009. The number was later adjusted to 492,300 yuan by the Lushan court.

In January 2011, Shi Jianfeng was originally sentenced to life in prison for fraud with a penalty of 2 million yuan, but the case threw a spotlight on China's tolling standards and the public doubted the rationale for a life term. The retrial ended with renewed judgments.
