Changsha (CNS) – Doctors removed a 2.3-kg tumor from an abandoned baby girl in central China's Hunan Province on November 1.

Born with the tumor on her back, the baby was abandoned by her parents one week after her birth and was taken to the Hunan Provincial People's Hospital by the local civil affairs department on October 21.

"We have read a lot of documents from home and abroad, but no report of such a huge congenital teratoma has been found," said a surgeon.

The surgery was successful and she is expected to recover in two weeks, according to a surgeon.
