Beijing (CNS) – China will fulfill its promise to contain and reverse the eruption of AIDS by 2015, public health minister Chen Zhu said Monday at the 6th Experience Exchange Conference of International Cooperation Program on HIV/AIDS in China.

Peng Liyuan, an AIDS prevention advocate with the Ministry of Health, asked the whole society to care for the physical and psychological health of children with HIV. She also called for further efforts to strengthen international communication and cooperation to curb AIDS as soon as possible.

Mark Stirling, chairman of the UN Country Coordinator on AIDS in China, appreciated China's efforts in recent years. The international cooperation project is indispensable, he said, and UN institutions in China are willing to support the country's AIDS combat.

The international cooperation project, introduced in 1988, has played an important role in the prevention and treatment of AIDS as well as in financial supply and technological support.
