Kunming (CNS) - The eastern section of the Trans-Asia Railway in China will be completed in 2013, said Li Wenbing, deputy director of Yunnan Development and Reform Committee, on October 27.

The Trans-Asia Railway, starting from southwest China's Kunming, crossing Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia and ending in Singapore, connects China with all Southeast Asian countries. In China, the Trans-Asia Railway consists of three sections.

The eastern section starts from Kunming, passing Yuxi, Mengzi, Henei, and terminating at Hanoi, Vietnam. The central section is from Kunming, crossing Yuxi, Puer and Jinghong, to Boten, Thailand. The western section starts from Kunming, passing Dali, Baoshan, Ruili, Mangshi, Tengchong and finishing at Myitkyina, Myanmar.

Sharing boundary with Laos, Vietnam and Burma, Yunnan Province in southwest China, will connect China with Southeast Asia and South Asia, which will develop into a large emerging market in the near future, said Li.
