Apple announced the second-generation iPhone SE a low-cost alternative compared to its other pricier smartphones on Wednesday.
It's at a significantly lower price of $400 compared to other models —potentially its biggest asset.
The iPhone SE will be available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB models starting from 3299 yuan ($466) on the Chinese market. It is available for preorder this Friday and it will be shipped on April 24.
The new iPhone has a smaller screen and similar design to the iPhone 8, featuring a 4.7-inch screen paired with Touch ID.
It also features Apple's A13 Bionic chip, the same that's available on its iPhone 11 and 11 Pro models.
In terms of camera capabilities, it features a single-camera system with a 12-megapixel f/1.8 aperture Wide camera.
The iPhone SE 2020 is the second budget mobile phone launched by Apple after the company released its first budget phone, the first-generation iPhone SE in 2016.
Affected by the novel coronavirus pandemic, iPhone sales in China have declined significantly.
In February, the shipment of iPhones to the Chinese market stood at 490,000 units, accounting for 8 percent of all shipments to the Chinese market, down from 60 percent compared to the same period last year, according to data released by the China Information and Communications Institute.
