Special: China's First Import Expo

Distinctive cultural elements of traditional Chinese Spring Festival will be featured in the latest sets of LEGO, company officials said at the ongoing China International Import Expo.

The two brick sets are inspired by iconic tradition and culture of China's spring festival, including Chinese dragon dance, family reuniting and sumptuous dinner on Chinese New Year’s Eve.

According to Niels Christiansen, CEO of the LEGO Group, it is the first time they have made sets for a specific country or region. The two sets will be available for China and Asia Pacific markets on the New Year’s Day.

Meanwhile, LEGO Group also announced to launch its first elementary school STEAM courses for Chinese students. The course is scheduled for trial in primary schools in Shanghai later this month. It will be officially available in April 2019.

In collaboration with East China Normal University Press and Chinese STEAM experts, the courses aim to foster Chinese students’ innovation, creativity and their all-round abilities to solve complicated problems in life.

It will cover the themes of material science, earth and space science, engineering and technology, and life science.

Additionally, LEGO also brought over 10,000 plant-based elements to its booth at the CIIE for visitors to take part in building activities.
