Home rental website Airbnb has developed rapidly in China over the past 12 months and seeks to further grow its presence in the country as it becomes increasingly engaged in China, a senior company executive said.
Over the 12 months through August, the US-based hospitality service provider saw nearly 5 million Chinese travelers using the platform while taking outbound trips, a year-on-year jump of 125 percent, Chris Lahane, head of global policy and public affairs for Airbnb told local media during a recent visit to Shanghai.
During the same period, guest arrivals by all travelers at Airbnb listings in China — overseas and domestic — totaled 2.25 million, up 287 percent from the previous 12-month period.
