DJI yesterday released a compact and foldable drone Mavic Pro, targeting a wider range of consumer group.
The Mavic Pro compresses the entire drone to practically the size of a water bottle, which is "small enough to toss in a bag and easy enough to launch quickly whenever the time and place are right," DJI said.
It has a 4K camera and a visual navigation system covering 7 kilometers with a 27-minute flight time. The new product will expand DJI's portfolio to a wider range of consumers besides professional aerial photographers and geeks, analysts said.
Mavic Pro costs $999 including the remote controller and $749 without the remote controller. It is now available for pre-order online and will begin shipping from October 15.
DJI is valued at US$8 billion after a $75 million investment from Accel Partners in 2015.
