China has about 1.3 billion mobile phone users at the end of the third quarter, meaning the mobile penetration rate is close to 100 percent as almost every one of its population owns a mobile phone, the industry regulator said on Thursday.
The mobile phone users are part of the more than 1.5 billion phone users at the end of September.
There were more than 302 million 4G mobile users nationwide, representing 41 percent of the total mobile user base, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
By the end of 2015, the use of information products and services is set to grow 20 percent annually to 3.2 trillion yuan (US$504 billion) in China, the State Council said previously.
In the first nine months, China's domestic smartphone sales jumped 30.8 percent to 119 million units, said the ministry.
At the end of September, there were 211 million broadband users across the country.
