China Railway Construction Corporation and China Sothern Railway are to jointly bid for a south Asian high-speed rail project worth 65 billion yuan.
The project will link Kuala Lumpur with Singapore. Work is expected to begin in 2016, and be completed in 2020.
Japan Railways, Alstom from France, and Siemens from Germany are also bidding for the project.
The Chinese bidding team is the same one that bid for Mexico's high-speed train project which was called off last month.
Insider says the team has many advantages because its members are well-connected with the local Chinese community and they have a successful bidding record on similar programs.
