Chinese consumers will be able to buy 800,000 overseas products directly from Amazon's Chinese website during Black Friday on November 28 — the traditional peak shopping day with huge discounts in the West.

Amazon will hold a cross-border online shopping festival in China for Black Friday — the first time it has been done on the biggest e-commerce website in the US — to tap the booming market.

Consumers can purchase selected products from overseas Amazon websites directly in Amazon China and take advantage of Amazon's logistics services.

More than 50 percent of Chinese cross-border transactions are done on Amazon's overseas websites, ranging from children's food, health care products and outdoors apparel to consumer electronics, according to Amazon.

"Amazon's new service will boost online shopping of imported goods in China because people need high-quality and reliable products, especially in the food and kid categories," said Lin Wenbin, researcher of Analysys International, an IT research firm.

But consumers still need to pay tax and delivery charges for the products.

Amazon can offer fastest delivery from three to four days during the Black Friday festival. By the end of this year, 1 million overseas products will be available for sale, up from 800,000 now.

Amazon earlier said facilities will be established in Shanghai's free trade zone to sell products from abroad to Chinese consumers paying in yuan.
