Chinese investment in the United States has been diversifying from energy to real estate, advanced manufacturing, technology and services, participants said at a local forum on investing in the US.
"Chinese investment in the US has increased rapidly and seen more diversification," said Mark J. Lerner, managing partner at Morgen Evan Advisory Services Ltd.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, China's outbound investment in the United States increased 16 percent in the first eight months of this year from a year earlier.
Major Chinese companies including Lenovo, WH Group and Anbang Insurance Group have been active in acquiring American companies in the past few years.
Lerner said that though Germany may lead other countries in mergers and acquisitions in the US, "China has great potential to fund more projects."
