More than half of white-collar workers in Shanghai use money from their parents to buy an apartment, according to a housing survey by Zhaopin.com.
Of the 2,480 people surveyed, more than 60 percent have yet to buy their own apartment. Of these, 46 percent live in rented housing.
High property prices in Shanghai were cited as the main reason respondents said they still didn't own an apartment, the survey found.
The majority of white-collar workers also said it takes about 60 minutes to commute to their office.
