China Mobile has suggested on its official Weibo account that it would change how it charges for mobile services on May 14.

It has been around half a year since China Mobile, one of China's leading telecom operators, launched its 4G service. However, as of April this year, the users of its 4G service only reached four million--far below its target of 30 million by the end of the year.

Recently, China Mobile has suggested on its official microblogging Weibo account that it would change how it charges for mobile services on May 14.

According to a report from Tencent Technology, the adjustment will mainly affect charges related to data plans.

The remaining data of its 4G users at the end of the month will not be zeroed out. Leftover data from the current month will be automatically added to the amount of the data provided to the user in the following month.

Furthermore, charges for going over data limits will be reduced; for example, if a 400-megabyte data plan for 40 yuan per month is used up before the end of the month, the data plan will be automatically updated to a 600 Megabytes data for 50 yuan, instead of a user being charged 0.29 yuan for every megabyte of data used over the monthly limit.

More details on the policy will be released on May 14.

China Mobile received its 4G license from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Dec. 4 and has been ambitiously rolling out the world's biggest 4G network.

By the end of 2014, it aims to expand the network to at least 340 cities, more than half the cities in China.
