Shanghai's gross domestic product expanded 7.7 percent last year, at the same rate as the national average but faster than its 7.5 percent rate in 2012, the Shanghai Statistics Bureau said on Sunday.
The city registered a 7.6 percent GDP growth in the fourth quarter of 2013, compared with 7.8 percent in the third quarter, 7.6 percent in the second quarter and 7.8 percent in the first quarter.
The service sector led the economic growth with an expansion of 8.8 percent while the manufacturing sector rose 6.1 percent. The agriculture sector, however, decreased by 2.9 percent.
