Animation industry to have more revenue this year

The country's animation industry is expected to record total revenue of 32.1 billion yuan this year, and this will rise to 36 billion yuan in 2013, a report by Zero2IPO Group says.

In a report analyzing the investment value of the culture and creative industries, the industry information provider forecast fast growth of the animation sector. Some 518 animated shows were produced in 2012 and the number was expected to rise to 580 next year, Zero2IPO said.

The report said the number of domestic animation production companies has risen from 35 in 2005 to 200 in 2010.

In the first 11 months, the media and entertainment industry reported 39 investment cases. The total value of 32 for which the amount was disclosed was 599 billion yuan.

The country has seen rapid growth in cultural industry investment funds. In 2011, 13 funds were founded with a combined 42.5 billion yuan.

Developments in the industry, in new media and overseas expansion will provide new investment opportunities, Zero2IPO said.
