Gome Electrical, China's second-largest electronics retailer, has recorded a net loss of 687-million yuan or 110-million US dollars for the first nine months of the year.
Gome's sales revenue in the first three quarters stood at over 36-billion, down 18- percent from the same period last year.
The company's net loss amounted to 185-million yuan for the July-September quarter, compared with a 500-million yuan profit a year ago.
However, in the just-concluded China Central Television advertising auction, Gome spent over 450-million yuan on prime-time advertising spots for next year.
For more on this, we are now joined on the line with Benjamin Cavender, Associate principal at China Market Research in Shanghai.
